Riverfest ’23

Celebrate the life force of the Birrarung River at the inaugural Birrarung Riverfest!

The Birrarung Riverfest is a month-long community celebration of our beautiful and resilient river starting on 24 September (World Rivers’ Day) to 22 October 2023. The Yarra Riverkeeper Association, together with more than a dozen partners, and communities along the river, will connect to each other and the river’s life force and reimagine the river’s future as a living entity. Engage your ‘head, heart and hands’ and be inspired to advocate for and care for your Birrarung River and all her critters!

There are 20 events to plan your Birrarung adventure, from art exhibitions, storytelling, river clean-ups, and camping, to cultural walks, platypus monitoring, pollution patrols, and even a book launch. Check out the events below and start planning your adventure.
