Restoring the Yarra, one postcard at a time

With recent lockdown restrictions confining us to our home, it is important now more than ever to stay connected with each other and to our local environment. Although we can’t meet in person, we are still a community.

The Seeds for the Yarra initiative saw 500 seedcards be posted to the Melbourne community. Each card is embedded with native seeds. When planted somewhere in our Yarra catchment by the lucky recipient the seed embedded in the card grows into a richly flowered Australian Bottlebrush, which will create food for wildlife, places for nests, cool our city, and help improve soils. People could choose to keep the seedling or pass it back to us where we will re-home it at a suitable location.

Do you have a seedcard? we want to be the fun aunt / uncle of your bottlebrush so please keep us updated on how it is growing using the hashtag #seeds4theyarra
