Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Burnley Harbour has been one of our little patches of green since 2020, where Yarra Riverkeepers and the community have been able to bring some life back into this little nature pocket.
Karin and Lachy will facilitate the session.

What is the session about?
Mainly site maintenance, removal of simple weeds, cleanup of litter around the site, and sharing our wins at the end!

What should you bring?
Clothes according to weather conditions (hat, UV protective clothing, closed shoes, etc.) We expect a hot day, so please make sure you bring the right outfit.
A reusable water bottle
Lots of smiles!

What’s included?
All materials for weeding, cleanup, and outdoor work
There will be sunscreen available
Event facilitators with First Aid training up to date
Refreshments at the end of the session
Water to refill your bottles

What is required from you:
1. All attendants need to have or have applied to have a Working With Children Check. This is FREE, and you can apply for it by clicking here (https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au). By attending, you acknowledge having this documentation.
2. All attendants will need to be fully vaccinated*. All volunteers need to sign upon arrival. There will be a Check-In QR code you will need to scan during the registration. Just say hi to Karin, and she will give you a hand.
3. To advise the event team if you have any illness or physical conditions that can put you at risk. We want to make sure everyone has a fantastic volunteer experience with us. If you happen to have a condition that might compromise undertaking some of the tasks, we will find something for you 🙂

How to arrive?
Burnley Harbour is just next to the Main Yarra Trail, on the north bank right across Herring Island. You have a few options on Public Transport, such as trams along Chapel/Church St, Trains at Burnley, East Richmond and South Yarra stations, and parking by the McConchie Reserve. You might need to walk 5-10 minutes. Best way to search on your phone is “Burnley Bouldering Wall”. We will be right next to it.

For any questions, feel free to email us at volunteers@yarrariver.org.au!

*We understand how personal are individual choices. As a registered nonprofit, we must follow the Victorian government COVID guidelines for social gatherings. If you don’t have your vaccination certificate or don’t feel comfortable sharing this information but still want to support your Yarra River, contact us! We would love to chat about other ways to volunteer remotely.
