Likes: Travel and sampling food from different cultures
Dislikes: The treatment of the environment as a resource to be exploited.
Favourite Animal in the Yarra Catchment: The platypus – it’s such a kooky, secretive and amazing
creature.
Carina has a background in park planning, business, and management. She holds an Arts degree and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Horticulture, which sparked her interest in restoring natural ecosystems. With 16 years of experience at Parks Victoria, Carina coordinated statewide conservation programs and led the urban park planning function.
After leaving the public sector to gain business experience, Carina owned and operated a farm-based hospitality business for six years. Following that, she served as the Operations Manager for the Yarra Riverkeeper for nearly two years, where she streamlined and strengthened operations, consolidated partnerships and helped grow the Birrarung Riverfest into YRKA’s flagship event. Wanting to continue her contribution to the Birrarung and the Yarra Riverkeeper Association, Carina has joined the Board.
In her spare time, Carina loves to be outdoors rowing, paddling, walking and cycling – frequently on or by the Birrarung. She is also a dedicated volunteer and life member of the Friends of Darebin Parklands.
